My Social Events segment of this assignment is based around St Patricks day and what and average person would see attending this in a small Irish town, these portraits were taken of individuals I found interesting as I followed the parade.

Contact Sheet Screengrab breakdown
01 - Renaming portraits from the saint patricks day parade in Ennis, selecting what I think are interesting photos that you would see whilst being out and about as a normal person on patricks day.

02-I then imported the images into lightroom, as there are not a lot of images in this section of the process, I opted for manually changing the settings of each image rather than doing pass of auto balancing everything.

03-Before changing any of the image settings, I decided to crop my image first.

04-For images such as the gardai in this portrait, that have reflective clothing, I masked and changed the highlights instead of changing the overall image settings. This is because on the day of shooting, it was very overcast and reducing the highlights from the image to much makes the sky even darker.

05-Showing what I have changed in the image, I decided to add blues to the shadows of the portraits and orange to the highlights, as it creates a warmer tone to help balance out the moody atmosphere that the overcast day caused.

06-I continued this process for the remaining images, adjusting the over all image after bringing down any over exposed clothing first, then changing the shadows to be more blue, the highlights to be more warm toned and brought the saturation up slightly to make the focus of the image be drawn to the middle.

Landscape-

For my landscape images, I have separated them into two groups, portraits of interesting assets that I thought I would be able to use for composites.

And landscape images that I could also use as backgrounds for composites. These were taken during two outings, one with Ken and one during a hike to 12o'clock hills.
For my composite, I decided to focus on mens mental health and the culture of not being able to speak out. I decided to make something you would generally see in a hospital or clinic, that is clear and obvious what it is.

Composite Process Breakdown:
I started by importing the image and removing the greenscreen background.
I wanted to create the sense of men not being able to speak, I originally wanted to stitch both subjects mouths together, but couldn't find a good way to go about it, so I instead used a light beam asset, which I changed the colour of to match their skin tone.
I chose a font I thought suited the composition, used one of the asset images of a brick wall to create an isolated feel and decided to make the image black and white.

For the composition I decided to also focus on mens mental health and not being able to speak up about their issues, I wanted to create an image of a man putting on a happy mask.
Using tape a tape asset I was given, I masked the happy image to the tape, I originally played with the idea of having the sad face on the tape, but decided against it.
I used the magnetic lasso tool to remove the taped part of the smiling image. I played around with how much tape I wanted and how bright I wanted the smiling image to be as I wanted to create a contrast between happy and sad. I used a landscape I took on saint patricks day as the background, as everyone seemed to be upbeat and happy. I made this image black and white apart from the taped section to create contrast between happy and sad, then added my credits and title.
